Hughes, the local brakeman who had both limbs crushed near Summerhill, yesterday morning, caused his death in about five hours after he was injured, he having passed into the great beyond at 12:55 yesterday afternoon... His wife was rushed to his bedside on the first train and was able to talk to him, but his children, who started on the noon train, failed to see their father in life. The body was brought to town last evening and removed to the home on Second street. It was only last Sunday that Mr. Hughes celebrated his 37th birthday. He is survived by his widow and three children: Florence, Roy and Ruth. His aged father, Alex Hughes, of Bradenville, survives, as do the following brothers and sisters: Lewis C. Hughes of Derry; Ira Hughes of New Alexandria; Otis Hughes of Atlantic No,2; Mrs. William Hart, of New Alexandria; Mrs. Mary W. Philippi of Portsmouth, Ohio; Mrs. Frank Morrow of Webster, Pa.; Mrs. James H. Caldwell of Bradenville; and Miss V. Earle Hughes of Bradenville. For close on to four years, Mr. Hughes had been employed as a brakeman at this point... He was a member of the B of R T and L O O M. He was an attendant at the Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev, M. A. Rigg of that church will have charge of the funeral services, which will be held in the church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will follow in Cole's Cemetery.
