Hughes of Latrobe, one of the best known practitioners, died last Thursday night at 11:30 from catarrhal pneumonia. He was 65 years old and is survived by his widow, two daughters and two sons: Misses Elizabeth and Jean Hughes, James T. Hughes and John J. Hughes. He had been a resident of Latrobe since 1884, going there from Blairsville. He had many friends in the northern part of this county and was a brother-in-law of Dr. J. M. Torrence. During the Civil War he was a member of the Fifth Pennsylvania Cavalry, and was made its surgeon general. He was a member and trustee of the First Presbyterian church, of Latrobe, and took an active interest in its welfare. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity. The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon. The remains were brought to Blairsville, where interment followed in the Blairsville cemetery.
