Before anyone could call to him he was struck and hurled some distance, death being instantaneous. The remains were brought to Nicholson's morgue on No. 41. Born in Bradenville, Mr. Hughes formerly lived on the old Hughes homestead, west of town. He has been living at Gray Station, since being made track foreman. He entered the employment of the P.R.R. On August 18, 1881, and was promoted to track foreman in 1895 and has been located at Gray Station ever since. He was known as one of the most dependable men on the Pittsburgh division, in his line of work. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. There are no children surviving. The following brothers and sisters survive: George M., David E., and Norman K., on the old homestead; J. Lawrence, of Derry; Mrs. M. A. Fritz, Mrs. H.S. Robinson, of Derry and Miss Margaret on the old homestead. He was a member of the Veteran Employes' Association of the PRR and an attendant at the Methodist church.
