Anna R. Hvizdos, 97, of Whitney, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in Excela Health
Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born July 27, 1915, in Whitney, a
daughter of the late John S. and Mary C. (Barlock) Hvizdos. Anna was a member of
St. Cecilia Church and the First Catholic Slovak Union. She was a devoted and
loving daughter, sister and aunt. Prior to retirement, Anna was employed as a
clerk and bookkeeper by the former Whitney Cash Market, the Confectionery Store
and Whitney Service Station, all of which were owned and operated by her beloved
father, John S. Hvizdos. Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by an
infant brother, Joseph; and brothers, John J. Hvizdos, Michael J. Hvizdos and
George Hvizdos. She is survived by a brother, Leonard Hvizdos and wife, Barbara,
of Emmaus, Pa.; four sisters, Mary Sagan, of New Jersey, Cecilia Washnock, of
Whitney, Aurelia Hvizdos, of Whitney, and Lucille Marsh and husband, Richard, of
Latrobe; a sister-in-law, Helen Hvizdos, of Latrobe; and a number of beloved
nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. There will be no public
visitations. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.
Monday in St. Cecilia Church with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, as
celebrant. Private interment to follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. Arrangements
handled by the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe.
