Imm, Former Valley Athlete, Dies. Albert J. Imm, Jr., 48, former well known Allegheny Valley athlete, died yesterday morning at 2:40 in Ohio Valley Hospital, Steubenville. In failing health for the past year, Mr. Imm was stricken during a Shrine banquet in Steubenville Saturday evening. "Imm___," as he was known to his many friends, spent many years in local athletics. He attended New Kensington High School and Slippery Rock State Teachers College. His athletic career included football with the Sterling A. C. and the Burns A. A. of New Kensington, of which he was a pioneer member. In baseball, he played with the Arcadia Club and the Arnold Firemen. During the late 20's and early 30's he was coach of the Tarentum Firemen's football team. Born in New Kensington in April 1901, he lived there continuously until 12 years ago when he moved to 1203 Swearingen road, Weirton, W. Va. He was a member of Cove Presbyterian Church, New Cumberland (W. Va.), Lodge No. 22 F. & A.M., Consistory No. 1 of Wheeling, Steubenville Shrine Club and the advisory board of Rainbow Girls, of Steubenville. At the time of his death, he was employed as a welder by the Weirton Steel Co. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Willavene Ross Imm, three daughters: Mrs. Maynard Ferguson, Mrs. John Nichols, both of Weirton, and Miss Dana Imm, at home; his father, A. J. Imm, of New Kensington; two grandchildren; a sister: Mrs. Earl Baumann, of New Kensington; and a brother, Charles Imm, of Lakewood, O. His mother, Mrs. Charlotte Imm, preceded him in death 15 years ago. Friends are being received in the Steel and Wolf Funeral Home, Main street, Weirton, where services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 in charge of Rev. A. Fermon Kearney. Masonic rites will follow and interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Additional Comments: Based on telephone interviews with Corinne Willavene (Imm) Ferguson and Charlotte Yvone "Bonnie" (Imm) Nichols conducted on November 9, 2008, their father's name was Albert Joseph Imm and their grandfather's name was Albert Edwin Imm. Their father was not a "Jr." as was indicated in some obituaries. The “A” in Albert A. Imm should be "J". Also, the last three letters of his nickname were unreadable.
