She was born in Connellsville, Pa., Feb. 14, 1904, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel (Ida Ankney) Balsley. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Rural Valley. She taught 29 years in the Latrobe Area Schools, (from 1951 to 1969 in the Second Ward). Her husband, the Rev. Robert Johns, preceded her in death in 1952, and was pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Youngstown, until his death. She is survived by one son, the Rev. J. Samuel Johns of Rural Valley; one daughter, Mrs. William (Ann) Bruggeman of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Thomas and William Balsley, both of Connellsville and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home Latrobe, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Latrobe. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
