Latrobe Bulletin Wed, Sep 03, 1952
Death has ended the ministerial career of Rev. Robert Johns, pastor of
Youngstown's St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church for the last four years. Rev.
Johns. 66, succumbed at 3:20 a. m. today in the Johns Hopkins Hospital,
Baltimore, Md., where he underwent an operation last Saturday. Dr. G. Lawrence
Himmelman, president of the Pittsburgh Synod of the United Lutheran Church,
disclosed that he graduated from Thiel College and was later ordained by the
West Virginia Synod in June, 1946. Among his survivors are his widow, the former
Miss Ella Louise Baisley of Connellsville, and two children, Ann and John
Samuel, both at home. Officials of the James P. Gaut Funeral Home, Pleasant
Unity, said they expected to receive the body today. Other details were not
available pending the return of Mrs. Johns from Baltimore.
