Latrobe Bulletin (Latrobe, Pennsylvania) · 20 Nov 1951, Tue 
John F. Kennedy, who operated a gasoline station here
for 26 years, was stricken fatally with a heart attack at
his home in Mechesneytown at 11 o'clock last night. He was
80 years of age. Born in Derry township on Aug. 29, 1871, he
resided in Mechesneytown during his entire life. He retired
two years ago at the age of 78, after operating a gasoline
station on Depot Street from 1923 until 1949. Although he
apparently enjoyed good health and had taken a stroll to
town yesterday, he died suddenly, about ten minutes after he
retired last night when he was stricken with a heart attack.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of the Holy Name Society and the
Altar Society. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie Overly
Kennedy, and the following sons and daughters: J. Paul of
Derry; John F., Jr., of Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Edward G. Bick
and Mrs. C. A. Mitchell, both of Latrobe; Mrs. William Drake
of Sharon; and Mrs. J. A. Ruffner of Greensburg. Also
surviving are ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren,
and the following seven sisters: Mrs. Annie Donnelly of
Braddock; Mrs. Pauline Smith of Duquesne; Mrs. Theresa
Cassidy of Swissvale; Mrs. Nell Reed of Ellwood City; Mrs.
Jane Ransel, Miss Sarah Kennedy, and Mrs. Catherine Barnes.
Friends will be received at the Stader Funeral Home. A mass
of requiem will be held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning in the
Holy Family Church, followed by interment in the St. Vincent
Cemetery.
