(Eugene) Keppel, 52, of Riverview, Parks Township, died yesterday (Sept. 11, 1979) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Born June 18, 1927, in Parks Township, he was the son of the late Frank P. and Lottie B. Keppel. A resident of the Vandergrift area all of his life, he was a rural mail carrier on the RD 1 route, Vandergrift, for the Vandergrift Post Office. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist mate third class. He was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Vandergrift, where he served on the board of trustees. He was also a member of Vandergrift Lodge IOOF, of which he was a secretary; a former member of Indiana County Encampment, Canton Butler of Patriachas Militant; a past district deputy of the Odd Fellow in Armstrong County District No. 1; the Bertha Rebecca Lodge of Apollo; Kiskiminetas Lodge F & AM of Vandergrift, and the Armstrong County Rural Letter Carriers Association. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Beatty Keppel, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert (Melody) Smeltzer of Spring Church; an aunt, Mrs. Edna Keppel of Shelocta; and several cousins. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Dunmire-Kerr Funeral Home, 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
