She was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Wilpen, a daughter of the late George and Anna Carns. She graduated from Ligonier High School, Class of 1934, and lived in Latrobe for more than 45 years at 910 Fairmont St. She moved to Bay Indies, Venice, Fla., in 1975. She was a member of the Latrobe United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a charter member of the Latrobe Art Club and a member of the Latrobe Civic Club. She also was an active quilter, belonging to several quilting clubs. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 221, Latrobe, for more than 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her first husband, Richard S. Sipe; her second husband, Christopher J. Kohlstedt; her sister, Florence Underwood Hetler, and two brothers, Jack E. and Staff Sgt. Franklin F. Carns. She is survived by her sons, L. David Sipe and his wife, Inez, of Lake Monticello, Va., and North Port and Weldon Sipe and his wife, Judy, of Mocksville, N. C.; a sister-in-law, Marge Carns of Garden City, N. Y.; three granddaughters, Paige Sipe of Arlington, Va., Pam Adams of Parkland, Fla., and Holly Sipe of Mocksville; a grandson, Adam Sipe of North Carolina, and two great-grandchildren, Max and Grace Adams of Florida. Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 221 will hold a service 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Unity Chapel, Unity Township, with the Rev. Aimee W. Twigg officiating. Everyone please go directly to Unity Chapel.
