Latrobe Advance  Wed, Nov 09, 1881
On Sunday morning last, Mr. Sylvester J. Kuhn, well-known to a large number of
our readers in this vicinity, died at his residence No. 187 North Carrolton
avenue, Baltimore, Md., aged 48 years. He was taken ill the previous Monday with
inflammation of the stomach, which developer into peritonitis and caused his
death. He was a son of Mr. Solomon Kuhn, of New Derry, this county, and went to
Baltimore city when a young man. He had been, for many years a merchant tailor
at the corner of Omen and Lexington streets where he had quite a large
establishment. He was a subscriber to the ADVANCE from the start, over eight
years, and we always counted him among our warmest friends. He was a member of
Pius Memorial Church of Baltimore City, and leaves a widow to mourn his death.
His death, which was so sudden and unexpected, shocked his friends in this
vicinity beyond measure. G. C. B. Kuhn, of Latrobe, went to Baltimore to attend
the funeral.
