The Ligonier Echo (Ligonier, Pennsylvania) 16 Jun 1944
John S. Kuhns, retired Ligonier Valley Rail Road Co. employee, died yesterday
morning at 5:30 at his home on West Vincent Street. He was aged 81 years, 5 months
and 1 day and had been in ill health for the past two years. Mr. Kuhns was employed
by the LVRR Co. for many years, retiring about four years ago. He was a life long
resident of Ligonier Valley and was born Jan. 14, 1863. He is survived by one son,
Roy F. Kuhns, of Clarksburg, W. Va., and a daughter, Mary, at home. Also surviving
are these sisters: Mrs. Lavina Harbaugh, Lansing, Michigan; Mrs. Hartman Kuhns, Miss
Lucinda Kuhns and Miss Agnes Kuhns, all of Oak Grove, Ligonier township. Funeral
services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from the home with the Rev. Harry
B. Hull and the Rev. D. Alan Martens in charge. Burial will follow in the Ligonier
Valley cemetery.
