Lentz, 87, of Unity Township passed away of natural causes on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, in Latrobe. He was born and raised in Unity Township, where he met his loving wife and lifelong companion, Eleanor Greene Lentz. Upon his return from serving his country in World War II with the U.S. Army, Norman and Eleanor married Sept. 9, 1946, in Philadelphia. Norman was a second-generation farmer who worked very hard to provide for his family on the Lentz Farm in Unity Township, which was passed down to him by his father, the late Norman L. Lentz and stepmother Hazel Helfferich Lentz. Norman was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Latrobe, the Pennsylvania Farmers Association and the American Legion. In addition to his father and stepmother, he was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Arbogast Lentz; five siblings, Oliver Lentz, Beatrice Shirey, Harry Lentz, Earl Lentz and Leona Fontanesi; his stepsister, Ruth Massena, and his step-brother, William Correll. He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Mae Greene Lentz; daughter and son-in-law Patsy (Lentz) and William Shean, son and daughter-in-law Charles and Ketta Lentz, daughter and son-in-law Sandra (Lentz) and Joseph Davis and son and daughter-in-law Norman and Denise Lentz; grandchildren, Mark Metz, Charles E. and Susan Lentz, Jason, Jeremy, Jessica and Joshua Davis, Brittany, Shane Keough-Lentz and Ashley and Nicholas Furman, and great-grandchildren, Colin Lentz, Owen and Elizabeth Landi, Jordan, Austin and Ryan Davis, Rachel Beeman, and David and Taylor Crowe, who all love him and will miss him dearly. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hartman-Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Latrobe, with his pastor, the Rev. Jeffrey L. Schock, officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
