Lentz, 71, of Latrobe RD 1 (Lycippus) died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997, at home. He was born Aug. 5, 1926, in Latrobe, a son of the late Norman L and Elizabeth (Arbogast) Lentz. Mr. Lentz was a dairy farmer, operating the Earl Lentz Farms near Lycippus, and a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Youngstown. A veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army, he was a member of Possum Hollow Rod and Gun Club, Unity Township American Legion Post 982, and VFW Post 8634 of Pleasant Unity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma G. Harr Lentz; two brothers, Oliver C. and Harry R., and a sister, Beatrice Shirey. He is survived by two sons, Alan E. (and his wife, Pamela) of Eagle River, Ark., and Randy L (and his wife, Mary Ann) of Charlotte, N.C.; his daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Kim E.) Meighen of Ellicott City, Md.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Norman K. of Latrobe RD 1; a sister, Leona Fontanesi of Latrobe; his step-brother, William F. Correll of Derry; his step-sister, Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Massena of Latrobe, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Gaut-Bacha Funeral Home Inc., Pleasant Unity. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dave von Schlichten officiating. Military service and interment will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Unity Township.
