She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Uniontown, Fayette County, a daughter of the late George and Blanche (LaVelle) Marks. Melcena was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Youngstown, Westmoreland County, where she sang in the church choir for many years, helped with the funeral lunches, attended Sunday school regularly and helped with Bible school. Prior to retirement, she was a licensed beautician for more than 50 years at the salon she operated in her home. Melcena liked to crochet doilies and afghans for friends and family, enjoyed playing cards and board games and was a good candy maker and baker. She was also active with her Greater Latrobe High School Class of 1946 class reunion committee, keeping the committee active by scheduling monthly meetings for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lundquist, on Dec. 25, 1977; and five siblings, Corbett Marks, Edward Marks, Louise Huhn and twins, Audley Marks and Audrey Chambers. Melcena is survived by her children, Gary Lundquist and his wife, Debbie, and Gail Lundquist-Tobias and her husband, David Tobias, and by grandchildren, Brett Lundquist, Bailey Tobias and Kelsey Tobias, all of Latrobe. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, in the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Clement officiating. Private interment will be in St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4329 Route 982, Youngstown, PA 15696.
