Latrobe Bulletin (Latrobe, Pennsylvania) 11 Oct 1917
Funeral services were held at Ligonier this morning, for the late Mrs. Jane Ann
Luther, aged 85, who died at the home of a daughter, in Johnstown, on Tuesday, at
the age of 85. She was the widow of Amos Luther who died of Typhoid Fever in a
military hospital in Alexandria, VA, during the Civil War. He was a member of
Company D, Fifth Regiment, Pennsylvania Artillery, and was the only one of six
brothers and two cousins who did not return from the war. Mrs. Luther was born near
Ligonier, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Beam. She leaves two daughters, Mrs.
Ray L. Baer, of Johnstown, and Mrs. Amy Kissell, of Waterford. Mrs. H.M. Graham, of
Waterford, Is a step-sister. A brother and a step-brother were drowned in the
Johnstown flood.
