Mrs. Caroline M. Mangus At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry J. Resides, on
Second street. Derry, at 12:80 this morning, occurred the death of Mrs. Caroline
Mewherter Mangus. Infirmities of age caused her death, following an illness of some
weeks. She was born near Livermore, on April 4, 1840, one of 11 children of John and
Maria Mewherter. All her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She was married
about 60 years ago to Alfred Mangus, who died 11 years ago, at his home near New
Derry. Since then Mrs. Mangus has been living with her children. At the time of her
death she was aged 89 years, two months and 28 days. Surviving are the following
children: Miss Eve Mangus. of New Derry; Mrs. Harry J. Resides and Charles Mangus,
both of Derry, and Isaac Mangus. of Baltimore, Md. Four grandchildren survive. Mrs.
Mangus was a member of the Methodist church. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday afternoon, at 2: 30, from the home of her daughter, Mrs Resides, with the
Rev. W. T. Robinson in charge. Interment will follow in Cole's cemetery.
