Marshall, the elder daughter of John R. and Mary C. Marshall, of Whitney, died at 7:40 o'clock, last evening, in the Columbia Hospital at Wilkinsburg, her death having been due to peritonitis, which had set in following an operation for appendicitis. The news of her sad death reached Latrobe shortly after eight o'clock, a message having been handed to the Rev. Dr. Flack, Pastor of the First Presbyterian church, at the conclusion of the evening service. The word of her death proved a great shock to her friends. Miss Marshall was taken to the Columbia Hospital about two weeks ago to undergo an operation for appendicitis, and the operation was performed on the third of September. Peritonitis set in, shortly after the operation had been performed, and she continued to grow worse until on Saturday she became so weak that her death was momentarily expected, the surgeons having given up all hope. Her hold on life was tenacious, however, and yesterday morning she asked that Dr. Flack be summoned to her bedside, saying that she would like to see him. Dr. Flack went to the hospital at once. Miss Marshall had been a member of the First Presbyterian church for the past ten years, having joined it while the Marshall family resided in Latrobe. She was 24 years of age. All of the members of the family were at the bedside when the end came, Mrs. Marshall having gotten up from her bed to which she had been confined for the past three weeks, suffering from asthma, to go to the bedside of her dying daughter. Miss Marshall was conscious until the end came, and faced death courageously. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Marshall's mother, No. 1308 Washington street, Allegheny. The services will he conducted by the Rev. Dr. Flack. The interment, which will be private, will be male in the Uniondale cemetery.
