Karen E. Mazon, 58, of Latrobe, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, in UPMC Mercy, Uptown.
She was born Nov. 14, 1950, in Grove City, a daughter of the late Edward J. and Rose
Mary (Hayes) Kentz. Karen was a member of St. Cecilia Church, Whitney; the White
Eagles, Latrobe; St. Joseph Club, Latrobe; and the White House Club, Loyalhanna. She
had also been a former volunteer at Baggaley Elementary School. Besides her parents,
she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Wayne Kentz. Karen is survived by her
husband, Donald Mazon Sr.; three daughters, Darcie Maksin and her husband, P.J., of
Latrobe, Royleen Martin and her husband, Donald, of Greensburg, and Misty Mazon and
Philip Kunkle, of Greensburg; a son, Donald Mazon Jr., of Latrobe; three sisters,
Victoria Garris, of Latrobe, Gloria Donley and her husband, Howard, of West Newton,
and Monica Palko and her husband, James, of Derry; and four grandchildren, Chelsi
Kunkle, Hunter Kunkle, Autumn Kunkle and Garrett Martin. She is also survived by a
number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7
to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St.,
Latrobe. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Cecilia
Church, Whitney, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, as celebrant. Interment
will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
