John McChesney, 84, well known farmer of Derry Township, died in Latrobe
Hospital, Latrobe, Monday November 29 after an illness of one week. The deceased
was born in Derry Township, October 28, 1870, a son of Jackson McChesney and
Elizabeth (McClain) McChesney. He was a lifelong resident of Derry Township, a
graduate of Old Elders Ridge Academy and a member of the congregation of the
First Presbyterian Church of Blairsville. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Carrie (Forsha) McChesney and these children: Mrs. Roy (Velma) Elliott, of New
Alexandria; Mrs. Merle (Mary) Irwin, of Blairsville RD 3 and Paul McChesney, of
Blairsville RD 3. Other survivors include a sister. Mrs. Bertha McFarland, of
Greensburg and there are 12 grandchildren two great-granddaughters. Friends were
received at Shoemaker Funeral Home where services were held Wednesday, December
1 at 2 pm with Rev. Lee E. Schaeffer in charge. Interment was in Coles Cemetery,
Derry
