A. McDowell, one of the oldest residents of Ligonier, died at 7:30 o'clock Monday morning at his home in Ligonier following a short illness. He was 89 years, 4 months and 23 days old. He had lived in the Ligonier Valley all his life, first on his farm and 20 years ago moving to Ligonier to make his home with Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Cramer. Mr. McDowell is survived by the following children: John H., of Hummelstown, Pa.; Harry M. and Clarence A. of Latrobe; G. A. McDowell, Roy F. McDowell, Mrs. Ophia A. Sibel and Mrs. Charles Patton, all of Greensburg, and Mrs. Lewis Martin and Mrs. H. M. Cramer, of Ligonier. Two sisters, Mrs. Laura Phillippi and Miss Amanda McDowell; 28 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Cramer home at 10 o'clock Thursday morning in charge of Rev. D. A. Martens of the Ligonier Presbyterian church. Interment will be made in the Ligonier Valley cemetery.
