Mercinko, 81, of Youngstown, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, in IHS at Mountain View, Unity Township. Born April 2, 1920, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Emory and Mary Barbara (Urban) Mercinko. He was a member of Sacred Heat Church, Youngstown. He was retired from the former Latrobe Forge & Spring Co. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was a good husband and father who instilled good moral values in his children. He was a member or American Legion Post 982, Unity Township. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, David Mercinko; grandson, David Keck; six brothers, Joseph, Emory, Albert, Andrew, George and Rudolph Mercinko, and four sisters, Margaretta Mercinko, Mary Mercinko, Rosetta Long and Florence Green Yancey. Surviving are his wife, Ann (Kolman) Mercinko; a son Daniel Mercinko of Derry; four daughters. Joyce Steuart of Greensburg, Joann Keck and Carol Walor, both of Latrobe, and Nancy Toth of Harrison City; eight grandchildren, Scott, Michael and Bryan Steam Sara, Adam and Fair Mercinko; Rachel Keck, and Cacey Walor, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends were received from 7 to 9 pm. Saturday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday in John J. Lopatich Funeral Horne Inc., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Funeral Mass was at 10 am Monday in Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. Chad Ficorilli, OSB, as celebrant. Interment was in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township. Parish rosary was recited 6:30 pm. Saturday in the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Church School Fund, PO Box 328, Youngstown, PA 15696.
