David Allan Mercinko, 19, of Kingston Street, Youngstown, died in an automobile
accident on Route 30 West, near Sleepy Hollow Causeway, Saturday. He was born in
Latrobe, Sept. 1, 1958, the son of Eugene and Anne (Kolman) Mercinko. He
graduated from the Greater Latrobe High School in 1976. He was presently
attending Clarion State College, Clarion, Pa., where he had just finished his
sophomore year. For the past two years he played football for Clarion on the
varsity team. He was a defensive tackle. He was a member of the Sacred Heart
Church, Youngstown. Surviving in addition to his parents is a brother, Daniel E.
of Laughlintown; and sisters, Mrs. Lynn (Joyce) Steuart of Greensburg, Mrs.
David (Joanne) Keck of Latrobe and Carol and Nancy, both at home. Family will
receive friends in Richard W. Dell Home for Funerals from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Sunday and Monday. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Sacred
Heart Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. Aelred J. Beck, O.S.B. as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.
