Mrs. R. Susan Hughes Mershon, 94, of Latrobe RD 5 (Youngstown), died Monday
afternoon at her home. Born March 18, 1882, in Cook Twp., she was the daughter
of the late Eli and Susan Kuhns Hughes. She was a member of St. James Lutheran
Church, Youngstown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Mershon,
in 1957, and by one sister, Gertrude English, Jan. 14, 1977. Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. Ruth Gibson, at home, and Mrs. W. Wayne (Oma) Stile of Latrobe
RD 5; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Nettie
Belle Custis of Natrona Heights. Friends will be received in James P. Gaut
Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church with the
Rev. Robert C. Schlotter officiating. The body will lie in state at the church
from noon to time of service. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery.
