Bert Newcomer, 50, for the past 26 years, shop foreman for the Latrobe Bulletin, died at 12:10 o'clock yesterday morning in his home in the Bulletin apartments, Ligonier St., Latrobe, after a lingering illness of several months. Mr. Newcomer was one of the best known residents. He was born on July 26, 1880, in Latrobe, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Newcomer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Three weeks ago, Mr. Newcomer was named exalted ruler of the B. P. O. Elks of Latrobe; he was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. Besides his widow he is survived by a half brother, William Dodds of Latrobe; a sister, Mrs. Ralph Welshons, Latrobe, and a brother Walter Newcomer, Boston, Mass. Mr. Newcomer had been in ill health for some months but was able to look after his work in the Bulletin until two weeks ago when he was confined to his bed. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 o'clock Friday afternoon with Rev. John B. Gardner in charge. Interment will be made in Unity cemetery.
