Nicely, 63, of Latrobe R. D., died in Latrobe Area Hospital Monday morning. He was born in Youngstown, Pa., Aug. 29, 1914. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Youngstown, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Ligonier and Ridgeview Club of Ligonier. He was a retired school teacher of the Greater Latrobe School District, with 30 years of service, retiring in 1974. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Bell Shaffer Nicely, in February, 1952. He is survived by his widow, Elsie (Hedfors) Nicely; one son, Bruce of New Bedford, Mass.; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Faith Ann) DePree of Bradenville, Mrs. Donald (Sandra Lee) Himick of Latrobe and Mrs. William (Portia) Lyons of Volant, Pa.; two stepchildren, Ted Nelmes of Culpepper, Va., and Mrs. Pamela Showers of Latrobe; four brothers, Robert of Greensburg, Daniel of Monaca, and Holmes and Moran, both of Youngstown; two sisters, Mrs. David (Grayce) Bates of Latrobe and Mrs. Edward (Edna) Porch of Duncansville, Pa., and 14 grandchildren. Family will receive friends after 7 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in M. S. Hartman Funeral Home, Latrobe. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. James Lutheran Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. Robert Schlotter officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery.
