Albert Overly Jr., 90, of Mt. Pleasant Township, passed away Saturday, July 12,
2008, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Sept. 16, 1917,
in Hempfield Township, the 13th and youngest child of Albert and Florence
Shaffer Overly. Albert was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a 54-year member of Operating
Engineers Local 66. Mr. Overly was preceded in death by his 12 siblings and his
wife of 60 years, Ellen Friedline Overly. Surviving are his children, Charlotte
Laurence, Albert Overly III, Marlene Grote, Dwayne Overly, Margaret McMullen and
Mark Overly; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-
grandchild. The family is inviting friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday to
the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL SERVICE INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, where
services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Henry G. Landis
officiating. Interment in Mt. Joy Cemetery. Published by Tribune Review on Jul.
