Edwin R. Poole, 56, of Greensburg R.D. 5 died Saturday afternoon in Westmoreland
Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Hempfield Twp., a son of
Marie Weaver Poole of Greensburg R.D. 5 and the late Ceward C. Poole. He was a
contractor for 25 years, supervisor in Hempfield Twp. for four years and served
in the Sheriff's Office under Howard (Bud) Thomas, Alex Copeland and John Peck.
He was a member of the Elks in Greensburg and Christian and Missionary Alliance
Church of Greensburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his widow, Verna Smith Poole; 10
children, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Shoaf of Greensburg R.D. 5, Mrs. Larry (Carol)
Humbrecht of Ruffsdale, Edwin E. of Greensburg R.D. 2, Mrs. John (Sandra)
Anderson of Greensburg R.D. 5, Ceward C. of Greensburg R.D. 2, Mrs. Roger
(Doris) Lohr of Greensburg R.D. 8, Larry L. of Greensburg R.D. 2, Janice of
Pittsburgh, Richard R. of Greensburg R.D. 5 and Lisa M. at home; 19
grandchildren, and three brothers, Charles F. and James C., both of Greensburg
R.D. 2, and Russell W. of Greensburg R.D. 5. Friends will be received in James
P. Gaut Funeral Home, Pleasant Unity, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily. Funeral
services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev.
William Underwood officiating. Interment will follow in Hillview Cemetery near
Greensburg.
