Richardson, 81, of New Kensington died Sunday, June 20, 1999, in Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont. Born July 13, 1917, in Derry, he lived in Gibsonia for 34 years before moving to New Kensington in 1996. Previous to that he lived in Derry. Mr. Richardson was an industrial engineer for Mine Safety Appliance, Pittsburgh, for 26 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of John E. Mair Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Mars, and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of New Castle. He played the trumpet with various bands during his youth and enjoyed listening to big band music and doing carpentry work. Preceding him in death were his wife, Carrie Sharetts Richardson, June 28, 1997; a daughter, Kim North Richardson, in 1994; his brother, Vaughan, and his parents, Russell and Bertha (Wadsworth) Richardson. Survivors include two sons, Gerald R. of Hanover and Dana L of Zelienople; three daughters, Mrs. Enos (Kay L) Schreckengost and Mrs. Frank (K. Diane) Benini, both of New Kensington, and Mrs. David (Joy L) Corbett of Mather; 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 23, from noon until service at 4 p.m. in Ross G. Walker Funeral Home Ltd., a family owned and operated funeral home, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. The Rev. Nelson T. Thayer, pastor of First United Methodist Church, New Kensington, will officiate. Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
