Rise, 77, of Latrobe RD 6 died Sunday, Dec. 18, 1983, in Claremont Mercy Hospital, Batavia, Ohio. Born Aug. 12, 1906, in Latrobe, he was a son of the late George Dallas and Catherine Saxman Rise. He was a member of Latrobe Presbyterian Church and the FAM 275, Latrobe, a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army, and the American Legion Post 515 of Latrobe. A Latrobe High School teacher of American history, and the tennis coach, he retired in 1968. He attended Kiski and Waynesburg College. He is survived by one son, George D. III of Goshen, Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Berkelach of Latrobe. Preceding him in death was his wife, Katherine Alcorne Rise, in 1965. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in M.S. Hartman Funeral Home, Latrobe, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Gary Ziegler officiating. Interment will be held in Unity Cemetery. Local veterans will conduct services before the funeral services.
