Latrobe Bulletin Tue, Dec 31, 1974 
John T. Schmucker Sr., 79, of 303 Loyalhanna Ave., Latrobe, died Sunday morning
in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born in Mutual, Sept. 23, 1895, he was a son of the
late John and Katherine Kley Schmucker. He was a member of Holy Family Church
and Holy Name Society; member of American Legion Post 515, VFW, Frontier Club,
Loyalhanna Barracks and St. Joseph Club and retired member of Latrobe Volunteer
Fire Department. A retired employe of Teledyne Vasco, Latrobe, he was a veteran
of World War I. He was preceded in death by one son, Simon, in 1953. Surviving
are his widow, Frances Ebersberger Schmucker; four sons, Donald of Derry, John
Jr. of Latrobe, Gerald of Ligonier and David of New Jersey; three daughters,
Mrs. Edward (Vivian) Cogan of Ligonier, Mrs. Donald (Mary Jo) Caruso of Trafford
and Mrs. Robert (Martha Ann) Flowers of Latrobe; 30 grandchildren; one great-
grandson, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Immel of Greensburg, Mrs. Margaret Simons
of Latrobe, Mrs. Russel (Catherine) Miller of Charleroi and Mrs. Francis
(Gertrude) Hall of Jeannette. Friends are being received in the John J. Lopatich
Funeral Home, Latrobe, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily. Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Family Church, Latrobe.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the
American Heart Fund. Members of the Holy Name Society will meet in the funeral
home at 7 p.m. Wednesday to recite the rosary.
