Schott, 101, of Latrobe, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 1989, in the Oak Hill Nursing Home, Greensburg RD 7. He was born Jan. 23, 1888, in Johnstown, a son of the late August M. and Genevieve Stoehr Schott. Prior to his retirement in 1958, he was employed as a machinist by Standard Steel of Latrobe. He operated a barber shop in Latrobe for 50 years. He was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, and was the oldest member of its Holy Name Society. He was a former member of the White Eagles and the Cooperstown Veteran's and Sportsman's Association. He was a resident of Latrobe since 1890. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Edna Frye, in 1988; two sons, Paul in 1916 and Paul in 1940; four sisters, Sister Christine, Mathilda and Catherine Schott, and Augusta Reeping; two brothers, Frank and Alphonse, and a great-great-granddaughter. He is survived by two sons, Joseph L. Jr. of Latrobe and Charles T. of Armbrust; six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Murray and Mrs. Marjorie Eltringham, both of Youngwood, Mrs. Robert (Marion) Murray of Coraopolis, Mrs. Catherine Melago of Latrobe, Mrs. Dora Slivko of Ocala, Fla., and Mrs. Frank (Patricia) Kistler of Greensburg; a sister, Mrs. Mary Nolan of Detroit, Mich.; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren, and two great-great- grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Dell-Frederick Funeral Home, 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A blessing service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Unity Township.
