She was the daughter of Wm. Scott, postmaster at Cokeville, Westmoreland county, Pa. On Thursday, the 26th, at 2 o'clock, the Burial Service was said over her in St. Peter's. church, Blairsville, and her body committed to the ground in the cemetery upon the hill… For five years past, Miss Scott had been a teacher in the public schools at Cokeville. Her bent as a teacher had been evident from youth, and before the conclusion of her course in the Blairsville High School, she was placed, through the illness of the principal, in temporary charge of the school. Afterward she taught in Cambria county and at Blairsville Intersection. In her work and in her life she was noted for a high standard of duty and a conscientious adherence to it in ways and at times that involved much of self-denial, and may, perhaps, have been influential in shortening her life. Her strong will kept her constant to this standard while the disease that finally sapped her life was gradually weakening her powers of endurance. On the Tuesday but one week prior to her death she was at her post in the school, and she returned that evening only to enter the chamber of her last sickness. Her illness was short and severe. Now, her pain and suffering over, "may she rest in peace." P. H. H.
