Benjamin C. Shaffer, 73, 123 Park St., Derry, died at his home 4:30 a.m. today.
His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Deemer Shaffer, preceded in death in 1946. Born in
Derry. June 12, 1897, son of the late Cyrus and Mary Mathilda Donohey Shaffer.
Retired PRR freight conductor, he was a member of the First United Methodist
Church and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Surviving children: Benjamin Jr.,
Derry; Mrs. Mary Louise Rygiel, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Betty Shaffer. Derry; five
grandchildren; brother, Eugene Shaffer, sister, Mrs. Audrey Henry, both of
Derry. Friends received at the Fisher Funeral Home, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., with
services here 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Victor L. Redfoot officiating. Interment
in Coles Cemetery.
