The Ligonier Echo Wed Oct 24, 1900
Mrs Rachel Shaffer, wife of Edward Shaffer, of Ligonier township, died Thursday,
October 18, 1900, of catarrh of the stomach after an illness of several weeks,
aged 61 years, 4 months and 19 days. Funeral services were held at her late home
on last Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. E. Fulton, pastor of the U. B.
Church of Laughlintown. Interment in Valley Cemetery. The remains were followed
to their last resting place by a very large concourse of mourning relatives and
sympathizing neighbors being one of the largest funerals ever in the valley.
