Shaffer. 72, of Star Route, Acme, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1987, at Frick Community Health Center, Mount Pleasant. Born Aug. 30, 1914, in Cook Township, she was a daughter of the late George and Nettie Milbee Hoffer. She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Donegal, LCW and Donegal Grange 1927. Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry "Jake" Shaffer in January 1978; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Mardis in 1985; three sisters, Stella Mitchell, Emma Frye and Ida Hoffer, and three brothers, James Hoffer, Lee Hoffer and Clyde Hoffer. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Betty) Colbert of Hunker; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four brothers, Roy Hoffer and Homer Hoffer, both of Stahlstown RD 1, Harvey Hoffer of Ligonier RD 5 and Floyd Hoffer of Ligonier RD 1, and one sister, Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Piper of Latrobe RD 4. Friends were received in Boyd Snyder Funeral Home, next to Donegal Cemetery, Donegal. Service was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Donegal, with the Rev. Robert H. Anschutz officiating. Interment will follow in Donegal Cemetery. Donegal Grange held a service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Jamie Snyder Brown was in charge of arrangements.
