Latrobe Bulletin (Latrobe, Pennsylvania) 18 Sep 1950
Mrs. Grethel V. Shawley, of Youngstown, who was post mistress of the neighboring
community for 12 years, died at Latrobe Hospital last night at 8 o'clock at the age
of 49 years. Mrs. Shawley was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in
Youngstown and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband,
Albert E. Shawley, and the following children: Dean, of Berea, Ky.; Nevin, of 
Youngstown; Mrs. Theda Frable, of Youngstown; and Mrs. Ina Wolff, also of
Youngstown. Other survivors include her father, G. W. Shirey, of Pleasant Unity; six
grandchildren and three brothers: Roy Shirey, of Connellsville; Earl Shirey, of
Jeannette; and Raymond Shirey, of Latrobe RD. Friends will be received at her late
home in Youngstown. The body will lie in state at the St. James Lutheran Church,
Youngstown, on Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 until 2:30 o'clock when funeral
services will be held there with the Rev. Albert Johns officiating. Interment will
be in the St. James Lutheran cemetery.
