Cecil Leonard Shawley Jr., 78, of Latrobe, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, in
UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Oct. 21, 1938, in West Newton, the son
of the late Cecil L. Shawley Sr. and Louise (Duncan) Shawley. Prior to his
retirement, Cecil was employed by Westmoreland County at Westmoreland Manor. He
attended the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio, and was an Army veteran serving
during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the AMVETS Post 94 in Mt. Pleasant
Township and served as Western Region Commander. He was also a member of the Logos
Christian Fellowship Church in Loyalhanna. Cecil was the last surviving member of
his family. He loved his church and his friends. All are welcome to a memorial
service to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, in the Logos Christian
Fellowship Church, 1317 Latrobe Derry Road, Loyalhanna, PA 15661, with Pastor
Christine Florendo officiating. Military honors accorded by the Armbrust Veterans
Association will be held immediately following services at the church. Inurnment
will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
