William W. Shean, 64, of Latrobe died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Excela Health
Latrobe Hospital. He was born Oct. 2, 1947, in Latrobe, a son of the late George
M. and Geneva H. (Haase) Shean. Prior to retirement, William worked at Latrobe
Steel. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. William was a
member of Unity Township American Legion Post 982, Derry Rod & Gun Club and
Derry FOE Aerie 1612. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. William is survived by his
loving wife of 21 years, Patsy L. Lentz Shean; his son, Chris of Boulder, Colo.;
stepson, Mark Metz of Latrobe; three brothers, George H. Shean of Derry, Stephen
F. Shean and wife Diane of Lorton, Va., and Robin L. Shean and wife Elyce of
Rochelle Park, N.J.; three sisters, Janine E. Elliott and husband Jim of Derry,
Marie E. Thessen of Youngwood and Patty A. Fallecker and husband Jim of Derry,
and several grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family will
receive friends for William's Life Celebration 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday,
Oct. 4, in Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc., 529 N. Chestnut St., Deny.
Chestnut Ridge VFW Post 444 and Roger Nolfi American Legion Post 324, both of
Derry, will conduct a military service 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. A
funeral service will be held for William 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, in the funeral
home with the Rev. Stephen C. West as officiant. Interment will be private.
