He was born in Latrobe, Feb. 16, 1913 and was a member of the First Ward Hose Company, Latrobe Fire Department, He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. A veteran of World War II, he was wounded on Iowa Jima, and was a member of the Carl Leroy McKelvey Post 472, American Legion, Manor. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pauline Kovac Sherback, and his mother, Mrs. Anna Bunca Sherback, Latrobe. Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Stephen (Julia) Petrosky, George, Michael, Mrs. Raymond (Anna) Noel, Mrs. Louis ( Margaret) Carota, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Milo, Mrs. Peter (Helen) Gasdek, and Mrs. Daniel (Veronica) Sarnese, all of Latrobe, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at his late home on Second St., Westmoreland City. Funeral services will be held at 9 am Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. Interment will be in the Irwin Union Cemetery. Members of the First Ward Hose Company and any other members of the Latrobe Fire Department desiring to accompany them will meet at the First Ward Hose House at 6:30 pm Sunday to go by squad truck to Westmoreland City to pay their respects.
