No one witnessed the accident and at first doubt existed just how it occurred. The flywheel is a part of the machinery which operates a stone crusher. This machinery is enclosed by a fence and employees had been given strict orders not to enter the enclosure to work while it is in motion. The machinery had been oiled prior to being started and officials at the plant say they know of no reason why Mr. Sherback should have wished to enter. An oil can was found sitting on the floor within the enclosure, after the body was found, and it is possible that Mr. Sherback might have gone in to retrieve it when his clothing was caught by the flywheel, sweeping him from his feet and dashing him to the floor. His body was found lying in one corner of the fenced-in portion, several feet from the flywheel. His scull was shattered by the force with which he hit, and both legs and both arms were fractured in several places. Following the accident erroneous reports gained circulation that Mr. Sherback had fallen into the stone crusher itself. This is not true, as the opening through which the stone is poured to be crushed is outside the fence. Furthermore, two men were stationed at this opening, and neither one of them knew of the accident until after it had occurred. Mr. Sherback has been employed at the McFeely plant for the past five or six years. He was unmarried and made his home with his parents, who live at the corner of Washington and Harding streets. He is survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Julia Petroskey, and Mrs. Anna Noel, both of Latrobe, and Margaret, Mary, Helen, Veronica, George, Mike and William all at home. Funeral services are to be held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. John's Church, with interment to be made at St. Mary's cemetery.
