Sherer, 85, of Latrobe, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2014. She was born May 9, 1929, in Unity Township, a daughter of the late Oliver and Gertrude (Smith) Campbell. Elaine was an avid player of board games and cards. She loved cooking meals for others and her home was always open to family and friends. She was an active charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Latrobe, where she had developed many lasting friendships. Elaine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed by her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene W. Sherer, in 2003; three sisters, Carolyn Brant, Helen McKillip and Fay Schmucker; and five brothers, Alfred, Gale, Harold, Lester and Lyle Campbell. Elaine is survived by her son, Edward Sherer; her daughter, Diane Snair and her husband, Ray; a sister, Arlene McLaughlin and her husband, William; and a brother, Larry Campbell and his wife, Dianne. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Chris Sherer Fisher, Matthew Sherer, Michele Sherer Aston, Stacy Snair Sceiford and Susan Snair, and her six great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1325 Mission Road, Latrobe, PA 15650, with her pastor, the Rev. William A. Schaefer, officiating. Private interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Youngstown.
