Latrobe Bulletin Mon, Feb 17, 1986
Jacob J. Shick, 76, of West View Drive, Ligonier, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1986,
in Latrobe Area Hospital. Born July 28, 1909, in Mount Pleasant Township, he was
a son of the late Ernest E. and Emily Carey Shick. He was a member of Holy
Trinity Catholic Church in Ligonier. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at
Kennametal Inc. in Latrobe. He also was a school teacher in the Mount Pleasant
School District for eight years. Preceding him in death were one brother,
Raymond A., and one sister, Eleanor Huffer. He is survived by his wife, Ethel
Lane Shick; two sons, Gerald R, of Latrobe RD 2, and Ernest L., of Houston,
Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Dorcas) Tyson of Manassas, Va., Mrs.
Michael (Patricia) Curran of Houston, Mrs. Thomas (Joan) Kelley of Langhorne,
Pa., and Mrs. Kenneth (Jolene) Bolinger of Indiana; 13 grandchildren, and two
sisters, Mrs. Viola Murray of Greensburg RD 7 and Mrs. Thomas (Edna) Patula of
Hollsopple RD 1. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 and
7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in James P. Gaut Funeral Home Inc., Pleasant Unity. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Vincent
Basilica. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township.
