Latrobe Bulletin (Latrobe, Pennsylvania) August 1936
Mrs. Sybilla Bossart Shirey, born and raised in Unity township, died Tuesday August
25, at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Thomas Shirey of Blairsville. Mrs.
Shirey was 80 years old last October (2 October 1855). She is survived by the
following children: Attorney Edgar Shirey and Charles M. Shirey, both of Unity Twp;
Rev. Fred Shirey of Shiloh, O.; Mrs. F. E. Strobel of Toledo, O. Eighteen
grandchildren also survive as do two sisters, Mrs. A. J. Kells of Youngstown, and
Mrs. Clara Smith, of Monessen. A half-sister, Mrs. Mary Strickler of Greensburg, and
four brothers, W. A. Bossart of Youngstown, Herbert of Latrobe, Dr. H. S. Bossart of
Buckley, Ill., and S. P. Bossart of Erie, survive. Funeral services were held at
2:30 o'clock at St. James Lutheran church Friday afternoon. Interment followed in
the Youngstown cemetery.
