After an extended illness, Mrs. Elizabeth Braden Shirey died at her home on
Third avenue, Saturday night. She was aged 83 years, five months and one day.
The widow of Daniel D. Shirey, who died in 1899. Mrs. Shirey had lived most of
her life in Derry and had a wide circle of friends. She is survived by three
children, Mrs. A C. Beck, of Cresson; Mrs. Frank W. Smith and D. Loy Shirey, of
Derry; one grandchild survives. Mrs. Shirey was a member of Trinity Lutheran
church. Funeral services will be held from her late residence tomorrow afternoon
at 2:30 with Rev. J. M. Weber, formerly pastor of the local Lutheran church, in
charge. Interment will be made in Cole's cemetery.
