Patrick T. Smith, 78, of 203 High St., Derry, died Sunday morning in Latrobe
Area Hospital. Born March 30, 1899, in Derry, he was the son of the late Michael
T. and Nancy Johnson Smith. A retired engineman for the Pennsylvania Railroad,
he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 612, Derry, and the Brotherhood
of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen. He was preceded in death by one daughter,
Betty Bendel, in 1972 and his wife, Grace Almes Smith, in April, 1977. Surviving
are one son, Joseph P. of Derry; two daughters, Nancy of Miami Shores, Fla., and
Eleanor, at home; one brother, Paul C. of Derry; three grandchildren, and three
great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends in Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral
Home, Derry. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St.
Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Derry. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
