Charles W. Smithley, 68, of Ligonier R. D. 1, died Monday afternoon October 31,
1960, in the Oakland Veterans Hospital. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Smithley, he was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his widow, Mrs.
Blanche Mitchell Smithley and these children: Mrs. Michael (Dorothy) Rakar.
Pittsburgh; Mrs. Harry (Marcella) Watson, Union Beach, N. J.; Mrs. Merle (Naomi)
Plummer, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Charles Smithley, Jr., of home. Also
surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Ella Nicely, Mrs. Sara Weimer and Mrs. Effie
Penrod and a brother Jerry, and eight grandchildren. The family will receive
friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 10 p. m. daily at the Sibel-Wolford Funeral Home,
144 East Main St.. Ligonier. A requiem high mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m.
Thursday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ligonier, by the Rev. Alfred
Grotzinger. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery.
