John S. Sokalsky Sr., 69, of 313-1/2 Spring St., Latrobe, died June 19, 1981, at
Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born in Crabtree May 26, 1912, a son of the late
Michael and Mark Sokalsky. He was a member of Holy Family Church and a retired
employee of Latrobe Borough and United Mine Worker. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Gertrude Alexick Sokalsky, July 23, 1980. He is survived by one son,
John S. Jr., of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Mary E. and Joan G., both at home;
one stepson, David L. Wisniewsky of Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren; one
brother, Michael of Florida, and three sisters, Mrs. Michael (Elizabeth) Birchak
of Crabtree, Mrs. John (Barbara) Phillips of Lawson Heights and Mrs. Earnest
(Mary) Chemarisky of Duncansville. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5
and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday in John J. Lopatich
Funeral Home, Latrobe. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday
in Holy Family Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The family
requests that memorial contributions be made to the choice of the family.
