(Ebensburg, Pa.) 1867-1938: January 21, 1869 A brakeman named Lawson Spires was caught between two freight cars, at Story's water station, two miles east of Greensburg, on Friday night week, and crushed to death. His death was the result of a collision between two trains, and the collision was the result of criminal carelessness on part of the engineer of one train and the flagman of the other.
