MRS. MARTHA STAHL
At the age of 96 years, three months and 16 days, Mrs. Mattie Stahl, widow of
the late John Stahl, and grandmother of Chief Joseph W. Stahl, of Latrobe. died
at her home in Cook township, July 31, 1919. She was born in the Valley and her
long life was spent in Cook township, near Bethel church. She was a life-long
member of the Lutheran church. Her husband died more than thirty years ago. Mrs.
Stahl leaves a long line of descendants, including four children, 36
grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The
children who survive her are: George and Isaiah Stahl, of Cook township; Mrs. E.
G. Nicely, of Ligonier, and Mrs. John Hood, of Cook township. One brother, Semor
Stahl, of Fayette county, also survives her. The funeral services were held at
2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Wm. E. Bauer, of Youngstown Lutheran
church being in charge, with interment in Bethel cemetery.
